LEGAL NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TOWN OF PERINTON, NEW YORK -PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Perinton will be held at the Perinton Town Hall, 1350 Turk Hill Road, Fairport, NY 14450, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 7:00 PM. At this time, the following three (3) separate public hearings will be held to consider the adoption of proposed local laws regarding real property tax exemptions: Hearing 1: Senior Citizens Real Property Tax Exemption To consider a local law amending the Town Code to update the income eligibility limits for the partial real property tax exemption for persons sixty-five (65) years of age or over, pursuant to New York State Real Property Tax Law § 467. Hearing 2: Surviving Spouses of Police Officers (RPTL § 471) To consider a local law implementing the provisions of RPTL § 471 (Chapter 670). This law authorizes the Town to grant an exemption of up to 50% of the assessed value of a primary residence for the surviving spouses of police officers killed in the line of duty. Pursuant to current law, this exemption is available to qualifying surviving spouses regardless of their subsequent marital status. Hearing 3: Volunteer Firefighters & Ambulance Workers (RPTL § 466-a) To consider a local law conforming to the broadened statewide exemption authorized by RPTL § 466-a (as amended by Chapter 592 of the Laws of 2025). The Town Board will consider: · Base Exemption: A 10% partial tax exemption for enrolled volunteer firefighters and volunteer ambulance workers. · Fallen Volunteers: Authorization to grant an exemption of up to 50% of the assessed value for the surviving spouse of a volunteer killed in the line of duty. · Expanded Eligibility: Provisions allowing surviving spouses to retain or reinstate their exemption regardless of remarriage. · Trusts and Co-ops: Extending the exemption to eligible residents whose property is held in trust for their sole benefit, or who reside in cooperative apartments as tenant-stockholders. ALL PERSONS INTERESTED in the subject matter of these hearings will be given an opportunity to be heard. Written comments may be submitted to the Town Clerk's Office via email at agilchrist@perinton.org or by U.S. Mail to the Perinton Town Hall no later than 12:00 PM on February 11, 2026.
