NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
2026–2027 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM (CDBG)
-NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town of Greece will receive an anticipated $540,551 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the 2026-2027 program year, commencing August 1, 2026.
A public hearing will be held on May 21, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Eastman Room, Greece Town Hall, One Vince Tofany Boulevard, Greece, New York, to provide residents with the opportunity to comment on the Town's proposed use of CDBG funds.
The proposed program includes the following activities: $390,000 for the Greece Residential Improvement Program (GRIP) to provide housing rehabilitation assistance to low- and moderate-income homeowners; $50,000 for an economic development façade improvement program in the Dewey Avenue/Stone Road corridor; $15,000 for public service funding to Lifespan of Greater Rochester, Inc. for the Home Safe Home Program providing home safety assessments and minor modifications for older adults; and $85,551 for general administration.
The public comment period for the proposed 2026-2027 CDBG Program will begin on the date of publication of this notice and will extend for a period of thirty (30) days thereafter. Written comments will be accepted throughout this period.
The hearing is conducted pursuant to Section 104 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, to obtain the views of citizens on community development and housing needs and the proposed allocation of funds.
A detailed description of the proposed program is available for public inspection at the Department of Planning and Economic Development, Greece Town Hall, weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
