LEGAL NOTICE -ABSTRACT OF INTRO NO. 322 OF 2026, ENACTING A LOCAL LAW ENTITLED "MONROE COUNTY ANIMAL ABUSE REGISTRATION ACT" ADOPTED BY THE MONROE COUNTY LEGISLATURE ON OCTOBER 13, 2026. This proposed legislation authorizes the amending of Part IV of the General Local Laws of Monroe County to add a new chapter to include Chapter 387, the Monroe County Animal Abuse Registration Act to protect animals and promote public safety. The creation of the registry would allow Monroe County to strengthen its ability to identify individuals convicted of animal abuse, enforce applicable restrictions, help prevent repeat offenders from acquiring additional animals, and thus, promote greater accountability.
