NOTICE -NOTICE is hereby given to the inhabitants of the WHEATLAND-CHILI CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT located in Caledonia, Livingston County; Brighton, Chili, Wheatland, Monroe County, State of New York, that said district will hold a budget hearing for the purpose of discussion of the expenditure of funds for the 2026-2027 school year, and the budgeting thereof, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 7 p.m., at the T. J. Connor Elementary School located at 13 Beckwith Avenue, Scottsville, New York, in said district. ALSO, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the inhabitants of the WHEATLAND-CHILI CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT located in Caledonia, Livingston County; Brighton, Chili, Wheatland, Monroe County, State of New York, qualified to vote at school meetings in said district, that voting will take place at the Wheatland-Chili Middle/High School located on the corner of North Road and Scottsville-Chili Road, Scottsville, New York, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. EDST, to fill the designated vacancies on the Board of Education. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must be filed with the Clerk of the district not later than 5:00 p.m. on April 20, 2026. The following vacancies are to be filled on the Board of Education: Term: 3 years, Name of Last Incumbent: Shanna Fraser Term: 3 years, Name of Last Incumbent: James Musshafen Term: 3 years, Name of Last Incumbent: Courtney Panek Each petition must be directed to the Clerk of the district, must be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the district, and must state the name and residence of the candidate. Voting will be on a candidate-at-large basis with candidates receiving the highest number of votes entitled to the terms with the longest length. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money to be required for the ensuing year for school purposes, exclusive of public moneys, may be obtained by any taxpayer in the district during the fourteen (14) days immediately preceding the vote, except Saturday, Sunday or holiday, at the Central Administration Office, 13 Beckwith Avenue, Third Floor, Scottsville, NY, and at each of the following school houses, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Wheatland-Chili Middle/High School, 940 North Road, Scottsville T. J. Connor Elementary School, 13 Beckwith Avenue, Scottsville A copy of such statement will also be posted on the School District's website at https://www.wheatlandchili.org. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that applications for absentee ballots will be obtainable between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays, from the Clerk of the district at the Central Administration Office, 13 Beckwith Avenue, Scottsville, NY 14546. An absentee ballot will be mailed to you after your application has been approved. Completed applications must be received by the Clerk of the district at least seven (7) days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. Absentee ballots must be received by the Clerk of the district no later than 5:00 p.m., EDST, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. That a list of all persons to whom absentee ballots shall have been issued will be available in the said office of the Clerk on each of the five (5) days prior to the day of the election except Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, and that such list will also be posted at the polling place at the election of members of the Board of Education. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that applications for early mail ballots will be obtainable between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays, from the Clerk of the District at the Central Administration Office, 13 Beckwith Avenue, Scottsville, NY 14546. That a list of all persons to whom early mail ballots shall have been issued will be available in the said office of the Clerk on each of the five (5) days prior to the day of the election except Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, and that such list will also be posted at the polling place at the election of members of the Board of Education. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that residents unable to vote because of military service as defined under the Commissioner's Regulation Part 122, and by reason of such military service, is absent from the school district in which he or she is qualified to vote on the day of registration or election; or a spouse, parent, child or dependent of a voter as described above, accompanying or being with such voter, if a qualified voter of the State of New York and a resident of the District; may request applications for absentee ballots. Applications may be requested from the Clerk of the district, Diane Stocking at (585) 889-6247 or by email to diane_stocking@wheatlandchili.org. Applications must be received by the Clerk of the district no later than twenty-five (25) days (April 24, 2026) prior to the vote on May 19, 2026. In all cases, the ballots must be returned to the Central Administration Offices no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 19, 2026. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that at the same time and place as said election on May 19, 2026, the proposed Annual Budget will be voted upon by voting machine, such vote being designated as PROPOSITION NO. 1. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that at the same time and place as said election on May 19, 2026, the following propositions will also be voted upon: PROPOSITION NO. 2 SHALL the following proposition be adopted: RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Wheatland-Chili Central School District be authorized to withdraw and expend from the District's existing "School Transportation and Grounds Equipment Reserve" a sum of money up to Two Hundred Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($215,000) to be used for the purchase of one (1) replacement vehicle for the transportation of District students, that vehicle being one (1) 42-passenger gasoline bus. PROPOSITION NO. 3 SHALL the following proposition be adopted: RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Wheatland-Chili Central School be authorized to withdraw and expend from the District's existing "Capital Reserve Fund 2021 (School Equipment)"a sum of money up to One Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($150,000) to be used for the Middle/High School updates. PROPOSITION NO. 4 SHALL the following proposition be adopted: RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Wheatland-Chili Central School District is hereby authorized to establish a Capital Reserve Fund pursuant to N. Y. Education Law §3651 to be known as the "Bus and Grounds Equipment Purchase Reserve Fund 2026," the purpose of such fund shall be to finance the purchase of vehicles for student transportation and other equipment; the probable term of such fund be ten years from the adoption of this Proposition, but such fund shall continue in existence for its stated purpose until liquidated according to Education Law or until its funds are exhausted; the ultimate amount of such fund to be One Million Eight Hundred Thousand Dollars ($1,800,000) plus accrued interest; and the sources from which funds shall be obtained are: (1) current and future unappropriated balance as directed by the Board of Education; (2) amounts from budgetary appropriations from time to time; (3) transfers from other reserve funds as authorized by law; (4) New York State Aid received on bus purchases as directed by the Board of Education; and (5) interest earnings.
