NOTICE OF HEARING BEFORE MONROE COUNTY LEGISLATURE -PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, that pursuant to Section A4-5 of the Monroe County Administrative Code, a public hearing will be held by the County Legislature of the County of Monroe on September 8, 2026, at 6:17 P.M. in the County Legislative Chambers in the County Office Building, Rochester, New York, on a proposed Local Law (Intro. No. 322 of 2026) entitled "Monroe County Animal Abuse Registration Act". Copies of this proposed local law are available for examination in the office of the Clerk of the County Legislature and Monroe County's Website. This proposed legislation authorizes the amending of Part IV of the General Local Laws of Monroe County to add a new chapter to include Chapter 387, the Monroe County Animal Abuse Registration Act to protect animals and promote public safety. The creation of the registry would allow Monroe County to strengthen its ability to identify individuals convicted of animal abuse, enforce applicable restrictions, help prevent repeat offenders from acquiring additional animals, and thus, promote greater accountability.
